Burning & Care
How long do Miss Sparkle candles burn?
Dorothy and Emmanuelle each offer 55–70 hours of burn time, depending on care and conditions. Trim the wooden wick to 6 mm before each burn, keep the candle away from draughts and never burn it for more than 4 hours at a time. Follow the safety instructions on the label.
How long should the first soy candle burn be?
For the first burn, allow 2–3 hours and let the wax melt evenly across the surface to help prevent tunnelling. Trim the wooden wick to 6 mm before lighting. Never burn the candle for more than 4 hours.
How do I stop it tunnelling down the middle?
To prevent tunneling, let the wax melt to the edges on your candle’s first burn. For your first burn, allow 2–3 hours. Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours.
How short should I trim the wooden wick?
Before every burn, trim the wooden wick to 6 mm. Wait until the candle is cool and the wax is solid, then remove loose charred material and wick trimmings before lighting.
How do I put it out properly?
Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame. Check it is fully extinguished, and let the candle cool completely before replacing the lid.

What are Miss Sparkle candles made from?
Dorothy and Emmanuelle are scented soy wax candles with wooden wicks in decorative glass vessels with matching lids.
Why soy wax?
Soy wax is the wax base we use for Dorothy and Emmanuelle. We pair it with wooden wicks and fragrance blends. Following the recommended wick length and burn times helps you get the most from your candle.
Why a wooden wick?
Because it crackles (we love that), it burns steady, and it looks better while doing it.
How strong is the scent, can I smell it when the candle is unlit?
Our candles are designed to fragrance your space while burning. You may also notice the scent when they’re unlit. Scent strength will vary depending on the fragrance, room size and airflow.
Is the jar reusable, and how do I clean it out?
Our candle jars are made to keep, reuse and collect. Once the jar has cooled completely, add warm water to soften any remaining wax, then gently remove it. Put the wax in the bin, not down the sink, and wash the jar with warm, soapy water.

Where does Miss Sparkle ship?
We ship Australia-wide from Perth, Western Australia. International delivery is not currently available.
How much does shipping cost?
We ship Australia-wide from Perth, WA. Standard delivery is $11 and express delivery is $15. Standard delivery is free for orders of $100 or more. Your delivery options and final shipping cost are shown at checkout.
When will my order arrive?
Once your order is dispatched from Perth, you’ll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information. Delivery times vary by destination and service. Express delivery relates to the delivery service and does not guarantee immediate dispatch. Read our Delivery & Returns policy for details.
Can I buy Dorothy and Emmanuelle together?
Yes. The Day & Night Bundle includes one Dorothy pomegranate and plum soy candle and one Emmanuelle pear and vanilla soy candle. Each candle offers 55–70 hours of burn time, depending on care and conditions.
Can I return a candle if I don't like the scent?
Yes. Contact hello@houseofmisssparkle.com within 30 days of purchase to arrange a change-of-mind return. Your candle must be unused, unlit and in its original packaging, with the packaging in good condition.
Safety
Can I leave a candle burning unattended?
No. Always keep a burning candle within sight. For the full care and safety instructions, read our Candle Safety guide.
Is it safe around pets / kids?
Keep candles out of reach of children and pets, and never leave a burning candle unattended. Burn in a well-ventilated space where it cannot be knocked over.
How far from things should I keep it while lit?
Keep your burning candle at least 30 cm away from anything flammable, including curtains, books, bedding and decorations. Place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface with clear space above the flame.
